Core'dinations: Letting Go

I had one more layout to create for Amelia's first day of school. Along with the photos, Amelia's excitement and some fun questions and answers, I had also written her a letter the night before.

I decided to convert the photos of her and I into black and white as I knew I wanted to use a pastel colour scheme. I chose a few colours of Core'dinations cardstock, a couple of pieces of patterned paper and set to work

I used a simple grid design, adding cardstock squares the same size as my photos. I then had fun embellishing each cardstock block with - you guessed it - more cardstock! But when I added the layers on top, I embossed, sanded and distressed them to make them stand out and add dimension!
For a scrapper like me that LOVES distressed edges, Core'dinations cardstock sure makes that easy! With minimal effort (ie. just a light sand), your edges are DONE! I even sanded the tiny scallop edge and die cut letters!

As the journaling was quite long, I added a flap to the cardstock blocks so they lift up to reveal the journaling underneath! Underneath the top left I added the letter that I wrote and under the bottom right, I included a poem that I found and seemed very appropriate, reflecting lots of what I was feeling on the day.

I love this layout and the story it tells. I do hope my girl apprecieates it in years to come, maybe even when she has children of her own heading too school for the first time.

Sob, sob! I'm so sentimental!
