Welcome to Core'dinations Hard Core Crop! Firstly, grab your blinkie and wear it proudly ALL WEEK LONG! Core'dinations is offering a prize the person using it as their Facebook profile photo so grab it here and head over to the Facebook event page and let them know.
If you have joined us before the rules work pretty much the same. Whether this is your first time (like me) or you are a returning Hard Core Cropper PLEASE make sure you head over to the Core blog for a full list of rules HERE.
They are pretty straight forward ... you must use Core visibly on your projects, upload using the linky at the bottom of this post (COMING SOON) by midnight November 10th EST (or November 10th @3pm AEST for Aussies), and follow my challenge rules but please make sure you follow the rules and check them out on the Core blog. BUT the most important rule...is to CREATE AND HAVE FUN!
If you would like to see a full list of the challenges head over the Core blog HERE for a list that will be updated continually throughout the weekend.
It's time to get crafty!
My challenge is all about creating patchwork inspired backgrounds using Core cardstock. For this challenge, I want YOU to create your own layout or cards with a patchwork background where Core cardstock is the STAR!
Here's my example to get you thinking:
And I also took a few photos as I went to give you an idea of how I piece together my backgrounds like this. Firstly, I cut all the pieces the correct size - for this layout my squares were 2 & 1/4 inch and I simply trimmed them into triangles on my trimmer.
I then lay them out on my background cardstock (for this one I used a sheet of whitewash as my background) and make sure I like the way they are arranged.
I usually then decide to emboss some pieces and sand them all to add a bit of dimension. Lastly, I adhere them to my layout one at a time, using my Xyron Mega Runner to make this job a lot easier!
I also have some tips for you:
- Do a search on Pinterest for 'patchwork backgrounds' to be inspired! You can even be more specific by searching 'triangle patchwork' or 'chevron patchwork'.
- Use different colors, textures and finishes for your pieces to give it a lot more interest and dimension. Luckily with Core you have lots to choose from!
- Here are some previous projects of mine with patchwork backgrounds: here, here and here.
Wow! Is that information overload?????
You can enter my challenge using the Linky tool below. One lucky winner will receive THIS gorgeous cardstock package!
Have fun, be inspired and I can't wait to see what you create!
